Mistakes Are Stepping Stones To Success
Post Inspired by Al Kingsley
I recently interviewed Al Kingsley who has 30 years of experience in business and education and he said “mistakes aren’t mistakes, they’re just stepping stones to success.” If you watched the episode you can see me immediately react to this because it hit me hard. Mistakes are not mistakes, they’re just stepping stones to success. Mistakes happen all the time in life and it’s important not to let one mistake discourage us from trying again. Failure is only as temporary as you let it be.

When we fail, it’s easy to feel sorry for ourselves. And while this can be a good time of reflection and understanding on what went wrong so as not to repeat the same mistakes in the future, there is always room for improvement with anything that was gained from these learning experiences.
It’s hard when something doesn’t go according to plan — whether it’s personal or professional matters little; failure still stings no matter what type of loss occurs. But rather than wallow in self-pity about how bad everything feels right now (when stress levels are noticeably lower), try looking at all those wonderful lessons learned along the way.
When you’re going through a hard time, it’s important to surround yourself with people that will listen and lend their perspective. I’ve never been able to see the big picture when things are tough because of tunnel vision, so having friends who can offer another angle has always helped me out in difficult situations. So like Al says, “never underestimate the power of a team”.
